Funk Translântico
We champion artists who carry forward a lineage shaped across continents and centuries—music born from resilience, migration, forced displacement, and cultural exchange. At the heart of our ethos is the Black Atlantic legacy created in the wake of the transatlantic slave trade: polyrhythm and groove, but also the vocal phrasing, melodic contour, harmonic tension, call-and-response, and communal forms of music-making that traveled, transformed, and took root across the diaspora.
Napkin Note Records honors the ways rhythm, melody, and harmony have all been remade through that history. We amplify artists who move between ancestral memory and contemporary production, improvisation and structure, instinct and design—creating music that feels alive, immediate, and deeply human.
